The White Stripes revealed
Consisting of Jack White and Meg White, The White Stripes were an American alternative rock duo. Although Jack White and Meg White were married, they divorced shortly after forming the band. Originating in Detroit, Michigan, The White Stripes were a part of the garage rock revival scene. Their music, however, reflects the influence of both the blues and punk rock. During their career, The White Stripes sold 5.9 million albums and won five Grammy awards. In addition to their music, they were known for their simple black, red and white color scheme.
The White Stripes break up
According to the official statement, The White Stripes did not break up due to artistic differences or the lack of desire to perform together. In addition, both Meg and Jack White are reportedly in good health, so health issues purportedly did not result in the break up. Instead, according to the official statement, the break up was intended to preserve what was most beautiful about the art and music the group presented during their time performing and recording together.
New releases from The White Stripes on the horizon
Third Man Records announced that it will continue to issue previously unreleased studio and live recordings from the duo through regular channels and their Vault subscription record club.
