Meg White Married Guitarist Jackson Smith

In May 2009, Meg White married guitarist Jackson Smith in a small wedding in Jack White's Nashville, Tennessee backyard. The ceremony had a few close friends and relatives in attendance with the added twist of serving as a double wedding. Jack Lawrence, band member with Jack White in the Dead Weather and Raconteurs, and his girlfriend Jo McCaughey also made their relationship legal in a ceremony officiated by Benjamin "Swank" Smith. Smith has a close personal and professional relationship with both Meg and Jack.
The groom
Jackson Smith is the son of the "Godmother of Punk," Patti Smith, and the late guitarist for MC5, Fred "Sonic" Smith. The groom is also a guitarist who has performed with his mother's band and a Detroit band known as Back in Spades.
The bride
Megan Martha "Meg" White was born December 10, 1974 in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan and grew up in the Detroit area. She married Jack White in 1996; however, they have maintained a close personal and business relationship since their 2000 divorce, even claiming they were siblings to avoid questions. When they were married, Jack (nee Gillis) took Meg's last name as his stage name. Meg was the drummer for The White Stripes, a Detroit rock duo she and Jack started in 1997.
After the ceremony
Meg White is notoriously quiet about her private life. Because of this, the couple has managed to skirt the headlines since the news of their nuptials were made public. Since then, the White Stripes announced their retirement on their official website on February 2, 2011.
Meg White and her newest husband Jackson Smith have a music-rich background with their family history. Their double wedding was unique and included close friends and family.
