A look at Jack White: Before and after The White Stripes reveals the life of an interesting American musician. Jack was born in July of 1975 and his full, legal name is John Anthony Gillis. He is sometimes also credited as Jack White III and is best known for his role as the pianist, guitar player and lead singer of The White Stripes.

Success with the Stripes

Jack stayed with The White Stripes until they disbanded in February of 2011. He was once ranked number 17 on Rolling Stone's list of Greatest Guitar Players of All Time. His success with The White Stripes allowed him to collaborate with other artists such as The Rolling Stones and Alicia Keys. He even worked as a solo artist from time to time.

The Raconteurs and Dead Weather

In 2005, White became one of the original members of The Raconteurs. He and the band soon became known for the song "Steady as She Goes," which White and Benson co-wrote. Jack formed another new group called The Dead Weather in early 2009. This is a collaboration with Alison Mosshart in which he plays drums and Alison contributes vocals. Jack Lawrence from The Reconteurs and Dean Fertita from Queens of the Stone Age round out the group.

From his career as the lead guitarist for the White Stripes to his vocal gig with The Reconteurs, Jack White is well-known for his musical talents. He remains highly regarded in the rock industry and is sought after by many newly forming bands.
